So today is Saturday, and our first day to just do whatever we wanted. This started with me accidentally sleeping in until 11:00 this morning (I must have been extremely tired). After we got back from the beach last night we had a feast and we all did some traditional Greek dancing (we usually don't get to eat dinner until around 8:00/8:30pm, so by the time we got home it was already almost eleven.
But today I woke up, took a quick shower, and then went out for about an hour to an hour and a half just taking pictures for class, which I will probably do tomorrow as well. We found a cute little church on a hilltop that also had an outcropping of rocks by it and we just sat there for about 20 minutes and just absorbed Greece. After this we came back and then snagged some more people for lunch (there is this little cafe type restaurant that was really good, and cheap too). After that we just walked around, looking at all the shops, but not really buying anything. We are trying to refrain from buying stuff just on a whim, because we will be here for a month and will be able to find some great deals.
Once we decided to call it quits on shopping we all decided to go a relax on the beach for some time. We went swimming in the ocean (which felt freezing, but it got a little warming as we swam more). We laid on the beach some more and then decided we just wanted to go swimming in the pool back at our hotel, since it is outside as well, but not salt water (and compared to ocean it felt like a hottub). After being in the sun for all the time we were outside and swimming I needed a nap (I also probably drank about 3 liters of water while out). The nap was wonderful, but still didn't take care of my headache which I had today, but oh well.
Then came dinner. We decided that we wanted to go out, but we also didn't want to spend a lot of money. So naturally, we just shared with each other. I had my first experience with Greek coffee, which is awesome. Some people don't like the gritty stuff at the bottom, but I find it quite good. And now I am typing away, getting ready to sleep off this headache, so tomorrow I can do some more ready for my classes and get some laundry done. Hopefully it is sunny, because then my clothes will dry nice and fast.
